The FTTP network offers a variety of analogue and digital video service options. Meeting the RF requirements at the optical network unit is challenging. TriAccess have developed a family of RFICs that meet the gain, noise and distortion requirements of PON systems.

TriAccess products, available from Clarke & Severn Electronics , feature gain and noise characteristics. GPON access architectures maximise the optical dynamic range and RF output power, which together expect ONT receiver gain. New multimedia distribution approaches such as MoCa (Multimedia over Coax) require higher levels of RF output to cover a number of terminal devices.

The TriAccess family of devices is designed to provide better gain, noise and distortion characteristics over the full optical input range. These devices provide the ONT engineer the critical tools necessary to meet demanding requirements.

FTTH RFIC amplifiers have the following specifications:

  • TAT6254C: 50 to 1000MHz frequency, 33 dB/33 dB gain/AGC range, 63/70 CSO/CTB
    (80ch,24dbmV), 3.9 pA/rtHz EIN and a return loss of 18 dB
  • TAT6280: 50 to 1000MHz frequency, 32 dB/32 dB gain/AGC range, 63/70 CSO/CTB
    (80ch,24dbmV), 3.9 pA/rtHz EIN and a return loss of 18 dB
  • TAT6282: 50 to1000MHz frequency, 31 dB/31 dB gain/AGC range, 63/70 CSO/CTB
    (80ch,24dbmV), 3.9 pA/rtHz EIN and a return loss of 18 dB

The TAT6254C RFIC amplifier is used in GPON and RF overlay solutions, in both noise performance and dynamic ranges. The TAT 6254C RFIC amplifier provides a wide dynamic range using the right combination of differential transimpedance amplifiers and multiple stage integration. The TAT6254C RFIC amplifier’s pinouts are suitable for a variety of applications.

The TAT6280 RFIC amplifier integrates the performance of the TAT6254C with the AGC gain adjust and RF detector, simplifying the circuit board design.

The TAT6282 RFIC amplifier is a low power consumption board and follows the TAT6254C RFIC amplifier’s design. Power consumption drops to below 1W with the TAT6282.

The TAT6254C RFIC amplifier has the following specifications:

  • Gain: 33 dB and 20 to 24 dB alternative
  • Power consumption: < 1W and >2 to 3W alternative
  • EIN: 3.9 pA/rtHz and 5.5 to 8 pA/rtHz alternative

  • CTB/CSO: mid 60s dBc and mid 60s dBc alternative
  • Space requirements: Single chip to 24 dBmV and Chip + post amp to 20 dBmV
  • Frequency range: 1GHz and 870MHz alternative
