Conxall cables at the LSE

Custom Conxall cables were supplied to meet power and signal requirements for a unique art installation at the London School of Economics, UK.

Bluerain, an art display by Michael Brown was commissioned for the library at the LSE. The display consists of a series of LED lights that describes activity going on inside the library.

Describing the work, Michael Brown says that ‘the layers of scrolling text are live data feeds culled from student research inside the library. These include subject searches to the online catalogue and titles of books as they are checked in and out of the library’. Bluerain contains 23,580 LEDs and uses less than 50 watts to power the entire display.

The power and signal for the art display were supplied by custom Conxall cables designed specifically for this application. The outdoor display required the cables to withstand extreme environmental conditions such as wind, rain and temperature ranges.

Switchcraft and Conxall products are available in Australia from Clarke & Severn Electronics .
