Citect receive Business Excellence and Innovation Award
Citect, owned by Schneider Electric, have received an award from BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) for Business Excellence and Innovation. The sixth annual BMA Achievement Awards, attended by more than 240 employees and management of BMA, were held in Moranbah, Queensland.
The Achievement Awards provide an opportunity to acknowledge new ideas, reward achievement and excellence and share best practices. Citect received the Business Excellence and Innovation Award for their contribution to the Coal Preparation Plant (CPP) application implementation.
Citect’s professional services team delivered a delay information system, which included monitoring plant performance, calculation and visualisation of plant metrics. This solution is based on Schneider Electric’s manufacturing execution system software platform, Ampla.
The Ampla software solution was installed at BMA’s head office in Brisbane, providing real-time visibility across all nine Coal Preparation Plant sites located across Queensland. The Ampla Downtime module was used to accurately identify periods and causes of downtime, slow running and overproduction.
This data provides BMA with available throughput capacity and information to drive its plant performance improvement process. The metrics solution allowed BMA’s Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to be visualised on dashboards, delivering an enterprise view of performance across all nine sites. This has allowed BMA to compare and benchmark the performance of each plant.
According to Wayne Dalla, CIO, BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance, the cooperation between the five vendors involved in CHIP FY08, their team work and evident drive to deliver value to the BMA Coal Prep Plants has been an important element in the success of their partnering model.
