Chevin Fleet Solutions specialises in offering flexible fleet and asset management solutions globally to corporate organisations such as Cox’s Enterprises and Volkswagen Group across the UK, Ireland, USA, and most recently Australia.
MD and founder of the Belper-based Chevin Fleet Solutions, Ashley Sowerby noticed a gap in the market for quality management software in the fleet industry.
It became clear to Ashley that organisations weren’t taking full advantage of one of their most expensive assets: their fleets.
Ashley says most fleets were earlier managed by administrative departments using spreadsheets, making it virtually impossible to extract any meaningful data.
What was required was user-friendly software that would empower operators to optimise their fleets, minimise administrative burden and reduce costs.
Chevin introduced RoadBASE for the fleet industry in 1990. Within six years, Chevin was operating across 19 countries.
FleetWave, Chevin’s web-based fleet management solution was launched in 2001. The first US office was opened in 2002.
Last year, Chevin announced another record-breaking financial year following 18 years of consecutive growth, despite tough trading conditions faced in the automotive industry during the past 18 months.
Today, Chevin’s fleet and asset management solutions are used by over 500 vehicle and transport operators in more than 30 countries, effectively managing fleets ranging from 20 to 20,000 vehicles.
According to Ashley, Chevin’s USP has always been its ability to deliver flexibility as a standard feature of their solutions.
Additionally, dedicated support, project management and software development teams ensure their clients get the exact software solution that meets the unique requirements of their business.
Chevin’s central business strategy has been to continue delivering high-quality products that represent true ROI to its existing client base, whilst continually diversifying, establishing the brand in new arenas and introducing innovative new interfaces.
It’s been a busy 20 years for Chevin Fleet Solutions, and this year is no exception. Ashley has relocated to head-up Chevin Australia while operations director Karan Ridgard has been brought onboard to move things forward from HQ in Belper’s historic East Mill.
According to Karan, the next few years will be tough for the automotive industry with the recession hitting it hard. Chevin is prepared to work closely with new and existing customers to ensure they get the most out of their customised solutions.
With the effects of recession shifting the focus to budgets, businesses are looking to protect their investments and are driving hard bargains with providers.
Chevin’s cost-effective solutions can slash fleet-associated wastage long-term, which appeals to financial directors trying to increase efficiencies and make their assets work hard.
Chevin continues to invest in its software development program, and has recently launched several interfaces including MilePost, which helps to reduce fuel fraud by providing accurate mileage data, PCNPAL, a complete parking ticket management solution, and DLC, a fully automated driver’s licence checking module.
