Lacework and wrought iron products specialist Chatterton Lacework says that 72 heritage lacework and heritage balustrade designs were registered in Brisbane, Queensland.
Many of these heritage designs were the same or similar to those registered in New South Wales. The heritage designs registered can be seen in Brisbane and North Queensland including Townsville, Maryborough and Rockhampton. Many designs used today in Queenland are the same as those used in New South Wales.
Many heritage lacework and heritage balustrade designs were unique to these areas and rarely seen elsewhere. The heritage balustrade V4 panel was registered in Queensland on 7.9.1886 as was the heritage balustrade C54 panel on 19.01.1887.
John Crane and Co of Brisbane registered the heritage balustrade R2 panel and the heritage balustrade V2 panel in approximately 1880 in Brisbane. These are some of the heritage lacework and heritage balustrade designs seen in Queensland today.
