CENTENNIAL Software , developers of solutions that help organisations manage their IT governance, has announced the availability of Centennial Discovery 2006, the latest release of the award-winning IT asset discovery solution.
The latest release of Centennial Discovery introduces a number of new and innovative capabilities designed to help multiple IT stakeholders within the business plan, manage and report on IT requirements. A key addition to the Centennial Discovery portfolio is Discovery.Visual, an innovative
network-mapping tool that creates custom visualisations of the network from a live feed of all discovered hardware and software.
Using Discovery.Visual, managers can quickly build an accurate view of the network, enabling them to significantly reduce the administrative overhead associated with tracking asset location, monitoring the progress of IT projects or drilling-down directly into selected PCs, servers or other types of IP-addressable hardware.
For 2006, Centennial Discovery also features an all-new web reporting tool which provides a faster and more intuitive way for different administrators and managers within the organisation to access key information about the IT estate. From specific software compliance reports developed in conjunction with the Business Software Association (BSA), to specialised network upgrade wizards, the Discovery.Dashboard turns statistical data into easy-to-understand IT asset intelligence.
In addition to the new usability and reporting features, Centennial Discovery now supports a wider range of platforms than ever before, with support for the most popular versions of SUSE, Red Hat, AIX and HP-UX*. Centennial's unique portal of software information - which provides value-added data such as application description, vendor contact information and licensable status - has also been upgraded and features thousands of distinct applications.
Alex Taylor-Pryce, a software specialist at engineering, architecture and environmental management consultancy firm, GHD, and Centennial Discovery 2005 customer, believes the integration of network mapping and visualisation components are a great addition for Centennial Discovery 2006, and one that addresses real customer needs.
