Cedar Creek Company (CCC) has associated itself to BabelBridge electronic Shipping Instruction (SI) service with a pilot integration project being undertaken with Elders Limited. BabelBridge connectivity will then be available to all CCC customers.
Developed in Australia by Bryn Systems, BabelBridge enables SIs to be sent from the CCC System directly to shipping lines, with visual copies emailed to the exporter, forwarders/brokers and any other nominated party.
Benefits include a reduction in data entry errors, rapid turnaround of Bills of Lading, and the ability to send all SIs through one delivery mechanism.
The BabelBridge eSI service comes as an integral part of the CCC System. Shipping lines define the format, which provides an efficient method of entering the data into their computer system.
BabelBridge receives the SI from the CCC System, translates it into the required format and delivers it to the shipping line.
BabelBridge has the capability to send eSIs in any format including XML, EDIFACT, ANSI X12, flat file and Adobe Acrobat PDF file.
As lines go through IT system changes, mergers or acquisitions, the delivery format may need an adjusting or changing completely. The changes are handled by BabelBridge and do not impact exporters, as the process within the CCC system remains identical, regardless of which shipping line, in what format or how the SI is delivered.
BabelBridge can also deliver electronic SIs into one’s freight forwarders system, eliminating data entry from all steps in the documentation chain.
Future BabelBridge enhancements to be incorporated into the CCC System include automated receipting, electronic Bookings, and Business Intelligence reporting.
