Carter Holt Harvey has announced the appointment of Michael Falconer as its chief financial officer. In addition to responsibility for finance, audit, acquisition and divestment, tax and treasury, Michael’s role will be to assist the organisation to continue to improve its financial performance.
“We are extremely pleased to have Michael join Carter Holt Harvey”, said CEO Peter Springford. “We have appointed a chief financial officer with significant overseas experience and a strong background working in the forest products industry.”
A senior banker at First NZ Capital, Michael Falconer spent eight years working in New York for Credit Suisse First Boston. In that time, he rose to the position of director and counted some of the largest forestry, and pulp and paper companies in the world as clients, including International Paper.
Since his return to New Zealand in 2003, he has worked with a variety of corporate clients in the forestry sector, including assisting Carter Holt Harvey with the sale of its Tissue business. Michael will report directly to Peter Springford. His appointment will take effect on May 9, 2005.
