Today’s high strength steels require a lot of energy to weld, but cannot be overheated. The Car-O-Liner CR500 DA inverter spot welder easily works with these steels and features a C-tong with double action capability which allows the user to move quickly and easily between welding positions for greater productivity.
The fully-featured spot welders are air-cooled with two fans and overheat warning, for added safety. Protection rating is to IP21.
The CR500 will handle up to a maximum of 12,000 amps, with inverter frequency of up to 2,000 Hz. Electrode pressure is up to 7.5 Bar.
The welding gun is versatile and will allow the user to not only do single-sided and double-sided spot welding, but also spot hammer welding, nut and bolt welding, carbon shrinking, contact shrinking, clip rivet welding and stitch welding.
The smart control panel has 11 operating modes and will hold up to 40 welding programs. The memory function also provides the ability to hold user set operating modes and their programs, for later recall.
The CR500 easily welds ferro steel, zinc-coated steel, galvanised steel and, as noted previously, high strength steels (e.g., boron) used in today’s motor vehicles.
Other features include automatic adhesive detection and adjustment, as well as energy control. This feature compensates for heat losses, by keeping fixed energy levels according to the thickness and quality of sheets being welded.
To ensure consistent current levels, current control compensates for heat loss and variations of the main supply voltage.
The CR500 is available with a support arm that follows the operator wherever the spot gun is placed. Optional welding attachments include a 600-yoke kit and a feathered-edge kit. An optional tool panel is also available.
Car-O-Liner also manufactures a range of MIG and aluminium welders for bodyshop use.
