Leading independently-owned compressed air company in Australia, Caps Australia announces that Ingersoll Rand’s Class 0 certifications have been updated to comply with the ISO 8573-1 Class 0 2010 standard.

Caps Australia is the exclusive Australian distributor of Ingersoll Rand compression products.

TÜV Rheinland, a global leader in independent testing and assessment services granted the certifications to the entire range of Ingersoll Rand air-cooled and water-cooled oil free rotary screw compressors (37 to 350 kW) and water-cooled, oil-free centrifugal air compressors (160 to 5,000 kW).

Air purity is essential to many critical processes in industries such as pharmaceutical, food and beverage, electronics and textile. Oil-contaminated air can spoil and ruin products, creating significant loss in revenue and customer trust. Ingersoll Rand’s oil-free technology can help reduce these risks. By providing pure air, free from additional contaminants, oil-free compressors minimise downtime associated with cleaning filters and other air system components while also helping them last longer.

The Class 0 certification was created in 2001 in response to industry needs for oil-free air. The most stringent air quality class, Class 0 certifies that a compressor discharges air free of added oil aerosols, vapours and liquids.

Ingersoll Rand has held this prestigious certification on both its oil-free centrifugal and rotary screw air compressor technologies since 2007.

Dino Alessio, leading Rotary Screw Compressor engineer at Caps Australia comments that the recertification to the latest revision of the Class 0 standard demonstrates Ingersoll Rand’s leadership in complying with the latest technical standards in the industry.

Oil-free compressors not only provide purer air, but save customers time and money while improving their productivity. Maintenance costs are minimised by reducing the need for lubricating oil, inline filters and oil/air separator components.

Alessio adds that Ingersoll Rand’s oil-free rotary screw and centrifugal air compressors are also helping manufacturers comply with environmental standards such as ISO 14001 and EU requirements.
