Pit protection system
DBI-SALA, a division of Capital Safety , has introduced the Pit Protection System.
Versatile and easy-to-use, DBI-SALA's Pit Protection System utilises a combination of interchangeable stand alone products to create an effective solution for the prevention of falls around open pit areas; making pit work easier, faster, and more productive.
The system not only serves as a safety barrier around the pit, it also encompasses all aspects of confined space - rescue/retrieval, entry/exit, material handling and fall arrest.
Flexible and adaptable components allows them to be used in different ways to achieve a diverse range of solutions, depending on the location, degree and nature of risk and the tasks being carried out around the work area.
Capital Safety technical manager Rick Millar says it is the only system on the market developed to provide an effective means of fall protection and safety for both workers and the general public around open pits.
"The system is easy to set-up and dismantle for any pit application. Once the anchorage bases are installed, the lightweight and compact components require minimal storage, transport and handling and can be easily set up and ready for use in less than 10 minutes."
The expandable design allows the use of as many or as little system components required dependent on the pit application. The system is suitable for water authorities, telecommunications, and electrical authorities in both the construction of new pits, and for use on existing pits.
