Capital Safety has added a fully automatic rescue and escape device to their range of fall protection equipment. The new Rollgliss R550 Rescue & Escape Device is a smaller, more lightweight rescue and descent system than its predecessor R500 series, and is ideal for working at height on wind and cell phone towers, aerial lifts or cranes.
The new Rollgliss rescue and escape systems offer fully automatic, hands-free descent, and require minimal user training. Featuring a lightweight yet durable cast aluminium housing, the Rollgliss R550 replaces the bulkier R500 series and offers the choice of rescue, evacuation, or assisted rescue with lifting capabilities.
Key features of the Rollgliss R550 rescue and escape system include integrated rope ears for greater descent speed control in assisted rescues; dual redundant brakes for added security and safety during automatic descent; bi-directional hub design allowing the rope to descend from either side, enabling the system to be used for immediate multiple descents; rated for up to two persons; and multiple rope length options up to 500 metres.
The Rollgliss R550 is ideal for a variety of environments and rescue and descent applications including emergency descents or a full rescue with the built-in rescue hub model.
According to Rick Millar, Technical Manager for Capital Safety Australia & New Zealand, the Rollgliss R550 is not a complicated rescue device and can be used easily by workers in an emergency situation to descend safely or perform a peer-to-peer rescue.
