In this video recorded at the Sydney Safety Show 2012, Capital Safety Managing Director Michael Biddle talks to Ferret.com.au about the company’s Rollgliss R520 and Ultra-Lok RSQ rescue devices before taking us outside for a demo of the R500 rescue system.
The Rollgliss R520 emergency rescue descender is unique in that it is the only conventional twin brake rescue descender available in Australia. Compact, light and easy to carry, this device is provided pre-rigged for quick and easy installation and use.
It features a durable, corrosion resistant construction and integral moulded rope control ears. An optional deployment storage box is available for attachment to bucket trucks, EWPs or crane housings.
Capital Safety’s Ultra-Lok RSQ self retracting lifeline offers an exclusive dual-mode operation that allows users to choose between fall arrest requiring assisted rescue or self rescue prior to connection. This two-in-one operation allows the device to be optimised for the work site while providing the ultimate level of worker safety.
The fall arrest mode stops falls within centimetres and limits the forces to 6kN or less for added safety. Assisted rescue procedures can then be implemented either at the mode selector or remotely with a First-Man-Up™ pole.
When in self rescue mode, users are automatically lowered to the next level after a fall.
The Ultra-Lok RSQ lifeline is housed in durable reinforced plastic that is both lightweight and long lasting. The housing also incorporates a built-in carrying handle for easy transportation.
A unique solution for emergency rescue and evacuation from a variety of elevated work areas, the Rollgliss R500 rescue system is suitable for self rescue, multiple evacuations or even assisted rescues.
It is rated for two person rescue, and features a compact and lightweight design with fully automatic controlled descent of .9m per second, enabling fast and safe rescue.
Manufactured from high quality, corrosion resistant materials for maximum performance, the Rollgliss R500 can be used for rescue and evacuation from heights up to 300m for one user up to 140kg or 100m for two users totalling 248kg.
Capital Safety’s Rollgliss rescue systems are used across the world in a variety of applications including:
- wind turbine construction and maintenance
- offshore and land-based oil drilling rigs
- utility pole/tower construction and maintenance
- fire and emergency rescue services
- commercial construction sites
- industry and MRO facilities; and
- government and military operations.
