Leadtek has released LR9101 miniature GPS module, which is a high sensitivity, low power and compact Surface Mount Device (SMD). This 20-channel global positioning system (GPS) receiver is designed for a broad spectrum of embedded applications and is based on the fast and deep signal search capabilities of the new SiRFstarIII architecture.
The LR9101 supports both standard NMEA-0183 and SiRF Binary protocols.
The LR9101 has a built-in high gain amplifier and bandpass filter, which enable the use of low-cost passive antennae. The LR9101 is packaged in a highly compact module of only 15 x 14 x 2.8mm to allow quick and easy integration into a wide range of applications such as PDAs, handheld radios, car and marine navigation, fleet management and asset tracking.
The LR9101 features cold, warm and hot start times of 42, 38 and 1 seconds, respectively, and a signal reacquisition time of 0.1 seconds. The module is fully shielded for optimum performance in noisy environments and comes in an RoHS-compliant package.
Leadtek also offers a complete evaluation system with Windows-based software to speed product development.
