FINISAR, represented in Australia by Caelera , has released an 8G fibre channel small form factor pluggable optical transceiver. It has also released an industrial temperature (-40ºC to 85ºC) CWDM gigabit interface converter (GBIC) optical transceiver.
The 8G transceiver is capable of operation at the new 8.5Gb/s fibre channel rate. It is suitable for storage network applications such as host bus adapters (HBAs), fibre channel switches and storage systems. The 8G SFP transceivers will be fully compatible with the emerging standards within ANSI/INCITS T11.
The company’s CWDM GBIC is designed to address the requirements of outdoor, fibre-rich architectures in telecom environments. It is able to withstand operating temperature extremes of -40ºC to 85ºC while functioning at speeds up to 2.7Gb/s.
The industrial temperature CWDM GBIC transceivers include Finisar's digital diagnostics, an APD receiver and CWDM DFB lasers available in eight wavelengths. All Finisar transceivers are enclosed in a metal package, reducing electromagnetic interference (EMI).
