The SINUMERIK 840D CNC controller features ShopMill and ShopTurn along with programming software packages that simplify machine operation and the programming of workpieces. ShopMill for milling technology is applicable to vertical and universal milling machines and ShopTurn is suitable for the turning technology.

With functions such as ‘safe brake control’ or ‘safe standstill’, the SINUMERIK 840D controller/CNC system platform and the Siemens drives ensure safety for personnel and machines.

The SINUMERIK 840D controller has the following safety functions:
