SCHLEIFRING’s new range of non-contact slip rings for power and data transmission is available from CAN Automotion .  

The non-contacting slip rings are designed for fast data transmission applications such as Fast-EtherNet, GigaBit Ethernet, Profinet, EtherCAT, Sercos III, EtherNet IP, Modbus TCP, EtherNet PowerLink and other industrial EtherNet protocols.  

Slip ring systems are stretched considerably in industrial applications where process and packaging machines run faster and deliver greater outputs per hour while customers demand extended lifetimes and data transmission rates with Industrial EtherNet protocols in distributed control systems.  

SCHLEIFRING has responded to this challenge by offering non-contacting power and data transmission with their new non-contact slip rings.  

SCHLEIFRING’s non-contact slip rings are almost maintenance-free at continuous high data rates with the new design doing away with brushes running on metallic surface.  

Functionality of SCHLEIFRING’s non-contact slip rings  

A rotationally symmetric transformer transmits power from stator to rotor inductively for power transmission. Efficiency is over 95% resulting in less than 5% loss.  

Through this inductive transmission technique, industrial slip ring systems can deliver from 1 W to 10 kW.  

Data transmission occurs capacitively, resulting in very low external interference.  

Due to the separation of data and power transmission, the two transmission systems can be adapted separately or in combination to meet customer-specific demands.
