Cafco Services has recently completed Greenhouse Gas Storage Pilot Project at Nirranda South in South-West Victoria.
The project is a large pilot project which will involve the injection of 100,000 tonnes of carbon 2.2km down into a former gas field.
Cafco Services’ contract was for the installation of all filtering and heating skids, compressors and fin fans.
Also in Cafco Services’ scope was the field measuring, shop fabrication and site installation of all interconnecting HP Process Piping (50nb sch80 316 SS flanges ANSI 1500#) including an underground pipeline which supplies the processed CO2 to the injection wellhead 2.2km to the south.
The pipeline alone consists of 230 butt welds all RT/PT examined to AS2885 with no non-compliances recorded.
The above ground process piping consists of approximately 250 welds all fabricated and examined to ASME B31.3 with no non-compliances recorded.
Although the pipeline welding was carried out in somewhat inclement conditions there were only 2 lost-time days, one for total fire ban and one for persistent rain.
