The latest in paddle-wheel flow meters for continuous flow measurement and control has been released by Burkert Fluid Control Systems. The Type 8012 star flow meter is suitable for a wide array of applications in water and waste treatment, cooling systems, general manufacturing and OEM applications.
The compact star flow meter operates under both magnetic and optical measurement principles.
The star flow meter is designed for use in neutral, aggressive, solid free liquids in the magnetic measuring version and use in liquids (that allow infrared signals to pass) in the optic measuring form.
The presence of optical sensors also delivers smart flow direction detection capabilities and programmable limit values.
The 8012 flow meter is comprised of an electronic module and fluidic fitting.
The electronic module offers programmable frequency/switch pulse and analogue 4 - 20 mA signal outputs.
Straight-forward programming is via USB port interface for fast, trouble-free setup and commissioning. Moreover, the same USB programming unit may be used for multiple 8012’s for cost and time efficiency.
This flow meter delivers a measurement range 0.5 to 1,200 litres per minute with in-line pressure to 10 bar (16 bar with alternative fitting material options).
The 8012 delivers impressive accuracy and linearity of less than 0.5% and operates with 12 – 36VDC power.
For process media temperatures of -15ºC to +100ºC (with PVDF, brass or SS fittings), electrical connections are M12 plug for IP67 protection, or DIN cable plug for IP65 protection.
Fluidic fittings are available in stainless steel, brass, PVC, PP or PVDF, for pipes ½” to 2” (DN6 – DN50).
With threaded, butt weld-ends and clamp ports, the 8012 integrates economically in pipe systems without any additional piping.
The flow meter has been developed with standardised components and a modular design principle which enhances the flexibility of the range, delivering more options and customised solutions open to consumers.
This concept is in accordance with a broader strategy being pursued by Burkert Fluid Control Systems in development of smart products with simple modular customisation options.
