Bürkert's SideControl Positioner Type 8635 is available in Australia and New Zealand. This high-specification electro-pneumatic positioner is designed for use with pneumatically actuated process valves, with linear or part-turn actuators.
Certified for operation in explosive environments and with IP65 protection class, the device is available certified to ATEX 2038 (PTB03) and ATEX 2027 (PTB04), and conforms to CE and EMC-89/336/EEC standards. The compact and robust 8635 Positioner is housed in hard-anodised plastic coated aluminium, suitable for use in chemical and process engineering applications.
Operating with a wide ambient and media range -25 – +60ºC, and pressure 1.4 – 6bar, the device has an airflow capacity of 55l/min (at 1.4 bar). The Positioner has a linear range 3 – 130mm and part-turn actuator range 0 – 120º.
The device utilises two-conductor technology, with the Positioner is parameterised and operated with direct inputs, or with PROFIBUS PA or HART. It is also possible to set up a decentralised control system, if a process controller with PID characteristics is used.
Signal processing, control and actuation of the internal positioning system are accomplished with microprocessor-controlled electronics. Operation of the Positioner is user-friendly, with three keys and digital text display, as well as an Autotune function for automatic adaptation of the positioner to the control valve in use.
The 8635 operating system accepts automatic or manual entry of the tight-closure and maximum stroke threshold, offers stroke limiting, signal range splitting of up to 4 times and definition of safety position.
The 8635 is designed for rugged use, suitable with control media with Class 5 dust content ≤40µm particle size, Class 5 particle density ≤10mg/m3, and Class 3 oil concentration ≤10mg/m3. The Positioner is suitable for applications in food and beverage, water treatment and environmental, mining, pharmaceutical and general processing.
