In 2004, Bud-Pak returned to the Harwood Sugar plant to install and commission an end-of-line palletising system for their DC raw sugar line.
This upgrade was done to complement the original net weigher installation Bud-Pak completed in 2003.
The end of line palletising system was needed in order to increase production capacity of the existing plant.
The new supply included:
- 2 transfer conveyors
- 1 pickup conveyor
- Fuji EC-61 robot palletiser
The new process flow has wrapped sugar bundles transferred from the existing shrink wrap systems to the pickup conveyor leading to the Fuji robot palletiser for stacking.
The robot is positioned with empty pallets either side of itself so once one pallet if loaded, the robot will begin loading the alternate pallet. This allows a forklift operator to remove the finished pallet and replace it with an empty one so as to not interrupt the palletising sequence or the operation of the filling lines.
