A bag turner from Budpak / Accuweigh was recently installed at Mitavite’s Somersby plant on the NSW Central Coast for their animal feeds filling line.
Bag turners find application in bag filling and closing lines, and are designed to change the bag’s orientation on the conveyor line.
After the bags are filled and closed, bag turners are used to rotate the bags 90 degrees to allow them to travel further along the conveyor in the correct orientation. A bag trainer/flattener is usually located after the bag turner to lay the bag flat on the conveyor for manual stacking or palletising.
Budpak’s bag turners are manufactured in Australia to suit client application needs.
The installation at the Mitavite plant had the bag turner located after a Newlong heat sealer, which seals the bags before they are rotated by the bag turner.
Budpak’s bag turners are supplied as self-contained, freestanding bag turners and are suitable for anchoring directly to the floor. Integral single phase electrical and compressed air supply connections are provided in the bag turner.
Key design features of the bag turner
- Includes the PLC and all necessary control items such as photoelectric cell, timers and reed switches
- Control enclosure is mounted on the bag turner with an On/Off switch as well as adjustable timers for the Clamp and Return functions
- Bag clamp assembly of the bag turner is mounted on a heavy-duty support pedestal and is height adjustable to suit different lengths via a simple hand-wheel arrangement
Budpak operates a network of branches in all states across Australia to cater to bagging, filling, palletising and stretch wrapping requirements.
