Flatbed laser multi-function centre

The new 5-in-1 laser flatbed MFC-8820D Multi-Function Centre comes standard with built-in duplex which has the ability to print received faxes onto two sides of the paper.

As a 5-in-1 Multi-Function Centre, the MFC-8820D features a laser printer, super G3 33.6 Kbps fax, laser flatbed digital copier, colour flatbed scanner and PC fax.

The MFC-8820D comes packed with a fast print speed of up to 16ppm, large 32Mb memory and a new 5-line back-lit LCD display. The MFC-8820D also has optional built-in networking capability.

As a business laser printer, it has built-in duplex printing capability, a fast print speed of up to 16ppm, HQ1200 dpi resolution printing (up to 2400x600 dpi), up to 250-sheet¤ standard paper capacity (expandable up to 500 sheets with an optional second paper tray), an up to 50-sheet multi-purpose tray and support for PCL6 and BR-Script 3 (PostScript Level 3) emulations.

It also includes a robust 32MB standard memory that is upgradeable to 160MB using industry-standard 100-pin DIMM memory.

The built-in automatic duplex capability of the MFC-8820D not only allows printing of 2-sided pages for your PC print jobs like high performance workgroup printers, but it also allows the ability for 2-sided copy output and fax receiving.

As a full function stand-alone fax machine, it incorporates a Super G3 33.6kbps high-speed fax modem, 340-station automatic dialling, broadcasting up to 390 locations, and a built-in 50-sheet automatic document feeder.

The MFC-8820D can store up to 500 pages for Quick Scan faxing or out-of-paper fax reception, plus with dual access capability the user can scan an outbound fax into memory while an incoming fax is being received.

As a digital copier, it provides fast copying up to 16cpm, reduction and enlargement from 25-400% in 1% increments, up to 99 copies, and a sorting function.

It also allows for the ability to copy up to legal size documents from either the document glass or from the automatic document feeder. Also included is a "N-in-1" function to allow the user to copy multi-page documents to either 2-in-1 or 4-in-1 page formats.

The MFC-8820D has the ability to scan colour documents at up to 9600 x 9600dpi interpolated resolution (600 x 2400dpi optical) on either the legal-size document glass or through the automatic document feeder.

For Windows-based users there is an easy to use "scan to" button for scanning directly to an image, OCR, file or e-mail applications.

ScanSoft, PaperPort, and TextBridge OCR software is included standard for Windows users, and Presto! Page Manager (which also includes an OCR application) is included for Mac.

The MFC-8820D is compatible with both PC and Mac environments (Windows 95/98/NT4.0/2000/Me/XP and for the Mac OS 8.6-9.x, OS X 10.1, 10.2.1 or greater are included).

The PC Fax capability allows sending and receiving of faxes to and from the PC (sending only from Macintosh).

The new MFC-8820D supports networking as an option. This feature provides a variety of LAN networking solutions- including internet fax, network printing, network scanning, scan to e-mail, network faxing and web-based management utilities.

The Brother NC-9100h print/fax/scanner server allows the MFC-8820D to connect with a 10/100Mbit Ethernet network.

The web-based management and administration utilities provide easy configuration and management, while connected to the network. Multiple protocol capabilities allow users in Windows, Novell, Macintosh, and Unix environments to simultaneously have access to the MFC-8820D.
