NEW VVVF drives are being introduced by Bonfiglioli Transmission (Australia) to enhance process control and facilitate the introduction of mechatronic drives technology in Australia and New Zealand.

The Bonfiglioli Vectron Active series offers state-of-the-art control of industrial electric motors up to 18.5kW, complementing Bonfiglioli electronic automation drive (EAD) equipment in styles and configurations up to 800kW, including integrated motor and inverters.

Bonfiglioli's EAD national manager Sean Richardson says the modular set up of the Vector series' hardware, combined with the flexibility of their software control, means they achieve excellent and reproducible operational results in a wide range of machinery.

Designed to cover the full spectrum of process control applications, they efficiently govern operations ranging from simple speed variations right through to highly dynamic and complex servo-style operations.

"This full series of flexible vector inverters is versatile and extremely easy to use, featuring outstanding control for high performance and unbeatable advantages in their scalability and compact size,” Mr Richardson said.

“They are ideally suited to mechatronic process refinements and entire production automation applications."

Features include:

* Three-phase 360-480V operation(ACT 400) and single/three-phase 200-240V operation (ACT200) at 50-60Hz (±10%).

* Selectable vector control function; sensor-less control, sensor-less field-oriented control and field-oriented control with encoder.

* Switching frequencies of 2, 4, 8, 12 and 16kHz, and overload capacities of 150-200% depending on reference power selected.

* IP20 (EN 61800-3) enclosure with EMC filter integrated up to 7.5kW (EN 61800-3).

Hardware features include integrated dynamic braking module, dc link connection, standard encoder interface and motor temperature monitoring. Plug-in power terminals are standard up to 3kW and all models feature plug-in and programmable control terminals.

The Vectron series incorporates one 240V relay output (changeover contact) six digital inputs, one multifunction input, one digital output, and one multifunction output.

Expansion of analogue and digital input and output is optional. Communication modules for system bus communication such as Profibus are also available from local supply.

Bonfiglioli's high technology inverters complement the broad range of advanced industrial drive technology Bonfiglioli has introduced to Australia and New Zealand, including the compact Trasmital planetary series, the C1, A and F helical gearboxes, new W worm series and a broad range of clutch-brake units and electric brake motors.
