Gantry cranes are a cost-effective solution per square metre when it comes to area coverage. Once a product is lifted, it can be moved forward and backward as well as left and right. This means a single gantry crane can often be used to accomplish several tasks along the same production line.
For example, with a gantry crane raw material can be lifted from a storage area into a machine, back out of the machine and into a packing area. If the gantry crane extends into the loading area, it can even be used to load and unload some types of trucks.
However, if the production area is not in a straight line a gantry crane cannot go around a bend.
In order to move material around a corner at almost 360 degrees a freestanding curved Altrac gantry crane can be used.
With a specially developed aluminium alloy, Altrac rails can be bent and still retain all the properties of the straight rails including being used with standard brackets. The extruded shape of the Altrac rail combined with the design of the trolleys means that Altrac runs smoothly and easily even when completely skewed or going around a bend.
Bomac provides standard 90 and 180 degree bends with a 1000 mm radius, but custom bends can often be accommodated.
