A well-designed ventilation system was important for the Cross City Tunnel in Sydney.
The system ended up being designed with a tall ventilation stack, creating the need for a secure fall arrest system for cleaning and maintaining the structure.
Bomac Engineering was chosen to create this safety system, which presented several unique challenges.
Obviously, the fall arrest system had to meet all the required safety standards. Other criteria were based on cost and durability of the system.
This project offered other challenges specific to the situation. For example, it was required that the system could not incorporate any sort of netting as it would restrict the air flow of the stack.
The stack was designed to be visually appealing and so the ideal height safety system had to be equally attractive. It also had to blend in with the overall look of the structure.
Taking all of these requirements together, Altrac was chosen as the suitable product for the task. The simplistic design of the Altrac system makes it unique and safe.
