Bomac Engineering recently installed three new jib cranes used to lift windscreens at a glass manufacturing plant in Victoria, bringing the company’s total number of Altrac cranes up to nine.

The newest additions lift windscreens from the same place and bring them around to three different destinations. The use of the Microlex vacuum lifter provided the strength needed to lift the 25kg pieces without affecting the delicate heating elements in the windscreens’ de-misting system. The Microlex lifter rotates 360 degrees and tilts a full 90 degrees to allow a large range of motion.

The six previously installed Altrac jib cranes are used for other automotive glass handling applications such as placement into various machines and testing equipment.

Altrac comes as a pre-engineered, modular structure in kit format that the purchaser can install. The track is self-cleaning and won’t corrode or flake off. All Bomac Engineering products are compliant with Australian safety codes, including Australian Crane Code AS1418.
