A stainless steel drainage system from Blucher Australia was specified for the Beringer Blass bottling plant as the ideal plumbing solution.
The 36,000m² Beringer Blass bottling plant developed by Blass in SA's Barossa Valley was designed to incorporate quality components that offered reliability, flexibility and value for money.
Plumbing consulting engineer Mirek Janousek didn't hesitate in specifying a Blucher 316L stainless steel drainage system for the bottling plant.
Mr Janousek from the Victoria-based engineering consultancy Beca says that the installation needed to handle very high temperatures as well as extreme conditions with water in the drainage system heated up to 82ºC and sometimes combined with sulphuric acid.
He adds that PVC wouldn't have been able to handle the heat while the cast iron alternative was not as flexible and would have been at risk of corrosion.
Blucher’s stainless steel drainage system was finally selected for the project with its cost-effectiveness from ease of installation being a key advantage.
