Australian middleware company, Bizcaps Pty Ltd provided their expertise to multinational medical device supplier Cook Medical in listing thousands of life-saving products on the NEHTA National Product Catalogue (NPC).
Bizcaps is an alliance partner of GS1 Australia, which hosts the NPC, used by Australia’s health supply chain for exchanging pricing and product information.
Bizcaps Software has assisted several health suppliers to publish their product data to trading partners, such as State Health Departments via NPC.
Cook Medical works with leading medical research facilities, teaching hospitals and specialists worldwide to develop physician-conceived, custom-crafted medical devices for healthcare providers. Their Brisbane facility produces angiographic and interventional devices such as endovascular stent graft technology as well as devices on the forefront of IVF technology.
Cook’s life-saving product range required the product information’s integrity to be protected during the transfer to the NPC.
Using international GDSN standards, the NPC holds information on up to 84 attributes for every health product record in addition to an associated pricing record for each product supplied to a trading partner.
According to Bizcaps Project Manager, Paolina Biviano, moving Cook’s extensive product range into the NPC database was a complex project as it involved over 5,000 products with well over 30,000 associated pricing records for the various health authority contracts. Data had to be pulled together from three different client systems before being uploaded to the NPC.
Jithendra Nair, Regional IT Manager Asia Pacific at Cook Medical said that the implementation by Bizcaps was carried out smoothly without compromising on quality despite the scale of the project.
Bizcaps Pty Ltd is a specialist provider of software solutions for Master Data, Catalogue and Product Data Management including integration to ERP systems in addition to validating and uploading data to GS1net and the NPC.
