Bestech Australia presents a water-cooled piezoresistive pressure transducer, from Keller. This pressure transducer can be used for accurate static and dynamic measurements in fluids up to 350°C.
The actual sensor, an integrated silicon cell with four diffused strain gauge resistors, is located in the water-cooled section of the oil-filled body. The oil transmits the pressured from the flush steel diaphragm to the sensor, isolating it from the temperature of the media. This means that very accurate pressure measurements can be made over a wide temperature range without influencing the pressure or flow conditions.
This pressure transducer can measure in pressure ranges of 10 to 1000 bar. Linearity is <0.5% full scale (down to 0.1% FS for lower FS) and repeatability is an impressive 0.1% FS.
Originally developed for blow down tests on water-cooled reactors, this pressure transducer also finds applications in high temperature chemical reactions and engine tests. The pressure transducer uses a stainless steel 1.4435 diaphragm, the same material used for the housing.
