Bestech Australia have presented the Spot Welder W-50R from TML, a capacitive discharge spot welder that is compact and lightweight. This unit is used to mount weldable strain gauges to structures and to secure lead wires in place.
The welding energy is controlled in 2 ranges of 1-10 and 5-50 watt seconds continuously. Because of the short output pulse of approximately 5ms, the spot welder causes minimal thermal damage to materials being welded. There is no annealing in slow cooling, and change of shape at the welding points is minimised.
The Spot Welder requires a power source of 230V AC, 50/60Hz. A stabilising circuit cancels the effect of fluctuations in the power source voltage. The output voltage is approximately 32V (max), and 2 welds per second can be achieved at 50 watt seconds. The Spot Welder can operate in an environment of 0-50°C, 85%RH or less (no condensation). The unit itself has dimensions of 300(W) x 195(H) x 195(D)mm and weighs in at 13kg.
Projecting parts such as electrical cables can be stored in the main unit for easy portability and handling. This makes the Spot Welder W-50R convenient for field applications. The Spot Welder W-50R is available in Australia and New Zealand from Bestech Australia.
