Bestech Australia introduces a new falling weight deflectometer (FWD) designed to estimate the construction of pavement or rigidity of subgrade.

The FWD-Light from Bestech Australia has excellent portability and enables simple and quick measurement of coefficient of subgrade reaction. The 2-wire digital line measurement system and a wireless measurement system offer two different measurement methods.

The main body of the small FWD is made to fall freely, and shock load and displacement caused by the falling are measured using a load cell and acceleration transducer. Displacement is obtained by integrating the acceleration twice. Measurement of external displacement of a maximum of four points is available by combining the external displacement sensor KFDS-1B.

The small and portable FWD system FWD-Light enables simple and quick measurement of coefficient of subgrade reaction called K value and modulus of subgrade elasticity called E value. FWD-Light consists of a main body KFD-100A and an indicator TC-351F. The main body includes a load cell and an acceleration transducer with measuring ranges of 20kN of load and 2.5mm of displacement at maximum. Values of maximum load and displacement, and analysis results of K value and E value are displayed on the indicator.

Each analysis result can be stored in the memory card and printed using an external printer. Data stored in the memory card can be transferred to a personal computer by directly connecting the card or via the indicator. Measurement and processing software TC-7100 is available optionally for indicating waveforms of load, acceleration, velocity and displacement, O-P time and time product using the PC.
