Displacement sensors
Displacement sensors

Bestech Australia  present the EDS series of sensors, from Micro-Epsilon, Germany. These are long-stroke sensors designed for industrial use in hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders for the displacement and position measurement of pistons or valves. This could include displacement, distance, gap, deflection, stroke, filling level and immersion depth.

Due to the rugged design of the long-stroke sensors of this series, these sensor systems are suitable for harsh industrial conditions. The sensor elements are protected by a pressure resistant stainless steel housing. The sensor electronics and signal conditioning are completely integrated in a sensor flange.

As a target, an aluminium sleeve is used, which is integrated into the piston rod and is passed without making contact over the sensor rod. Due to the use of the eddy current principle, no permanent magnets need to be mounted inside the cylinder.

Measuring ranges vary from 100mm to 630mm. Linearity is ±0.3% of the full scale output, while resolution is 0.05% FSO. Output is in 4 to 20mA form.

The temperature range is -40°C to 85°C, while temperature stability is ±200 ppm/°C. The long-stroke sensor unit is protected to an IP67 rating, and is oil resistant and maintenance free.

This series of long-stroke displacement sensors are available in Australia and New Zealand from Bestech Australia.
