Bestech Australia presents its range of high performance FBG fibre optic temperature sensors, from Fiber Sensing. They are suitable for a large range of temperature sensing applications. Essentially, they are fiber optic versions of the conventional electrical and vibrating wire temperature sensors but completely passive, offering inherent insensitivity to environmentally induced drift.
Fibre Bragg Grating (FBG) is the base technology of these sensors. Being a fiber optic sensor, a Bragg grating has all the advantages usually attributed to these devices.
The temperature sensors feature high accuracy and resolution, and total fiber optic design ensuring intrinsic immunity to electric sparks and EMI/RFI. Compatible with most common FBG measurement units, Fiber Sensing temperature sensors combine compact size, high resistance to corrosion and harsh environments with long-term reliability. They are also suitable for remote sensing being possible to install them several kilometers away from the measurement unit and to connect a large number of sensors in a single optical fibre.
The four general types of FS6300 temperature sensors:
- The weldable temperature sensor is designed to be spot welded onto metallic surfaces, offering a significant increase of productivity in the installation process.
- The embedded temperature sensor is specially designed for embedding in concrete and is available with 3 mm stainless steel coil buffer. It is protected against complete, continuous submersion in water guaranteeing IP68 protection.
- The industrial probe is stainless steel (free of copper, PTFE and silicone) and the sealing O-ring is made of polyvinyl chloride, so the sensor can be used in both chemical and food processing industries.
