Bestech Australia offers a low cost range of Swiss company Keller pressure sensors for direct mounting onto printed circuit boards. These pressure sensors are piezoresistive measuring cells and consist of a glass back plate and silicon chip with a diffused resistor bridge. The cell is mounted on a glass feed through and packaged in a housing for easy pressure connection. The high and stable output signal can easily be conditioned with standard amplifiers.
Series 2 is suitable for dry air applications as the medium is acting directly on the silicon chip and comes into contact with the strain gauges of the Wheatstone bridge.
In the series 4, the medium acts on the rear side of the silicon chip. It is for wet or dry applications, including gas, water and non-aggressive fluids with benign reference atmosphere. It is suitable for negative pressure measurements.
The sensors are tested for temperature, stability and linearity and each model comes with an individual calibration sheet. The devices are small and rugged with high sensitivity and resolution and they are typically used in small airplanes, meteorology, pneumatic control instruments, robotics, sanitary and pharmaceutical gases and air conditioning.
