Technical and Scientific Equipment (TSE) presents the DEA 230 Dielectric Analyser, from Netzsch, Germany, now available from Bestech .

This dielectric analyser can be used for investigation of the curing behaviour of thermosetting resin systems, composite materials, adhesives and points. It can be employed not only on a laboratory scale, but also in process. Versatile sensors for almost every application are available for measurement of the ion viscosity.

The two-channel DEA 230/2 can be equipped with up to two different external interface boxes in order to cover a wide ion viscosity range. It can be equipped with the integrated circuit sensor for low ion conductivity ranges. This chip sensor delivers highly accurate, reproducible loss factor and permittivity results, even at the lowest frequencies.

Even with the standard DEA 230/1, it is possible to measure the frequency-dependent curing and crosslinking behaviour (multi-frequency sweeps) of most thermosets, adhesives and paints. The 10-channel DEA 230/10 offers additional capability to employing multiple sensor positions or different sensor types simultaneously, which make it ideal for process development and production applications.

Also, by combining this dielectric analyser with the DMA 242 C, the simultaneous measurement of a polymer’s dielectric and dynamic-mechanical properties can be investigated in a single experiment. The combination of these complimentary methods provides additional information for complete characterisation of the crosslinking behaviours of the reactive polymers.
