By using a wire of synthetic material in these draw wire sensors makes them versatile for additional areas of application, where metal can not be used for safety and interference reasons.
The benefits of using synthetic material wires include:
- high tensile strength,
- low expansion,
- prolonged service life,
- completely technically equal to conventional steel wire, and
- lower weight compared to steel.
Thanks to the absence of metal, these draw wire sensors can be utilised in high voltage areas where, for safety reasons, no conductive connection is allowed between the measuring system and the target.
The sensors are also ideal for use in medical technology, where the absence of metal offers major advantages for these displacement transducers. The plastic wire produces no interference when scanning with MRI systems or taking X-ray films.
The flexible and modular design of the draw wire sensors has led to sensors with plastic lines being available as OEM versions with many other sensor series.
