The GPA 750 is the latest addition to the range of liner variable differential transformers manufactured by Macro Sensors and available from Bestech Australia .
Offering an economic solution that does not compromise on performance, these differential transformers are similar to a long stroke gauge head, and comprise a 19mm diameter stainless steel body with a spring loaded shaft guided by two precision sleeve bearings.
The core of these devices is attached to the end of the shaft, which is able to move through the windings of the LVDT fixed inside the body.
The exposed end of the shaft is fitted with a removable, chrome plated steel tip. As the tip is depressed, the relative position of the core changes, and output signal changes are recorded. This is then converted by an external signal conditioner to the required analogue or digital signal.
A 1m long electrical cable is attached to one end of the housing of these differential transformers, and the other end of the body is threaded. Two UNF nuts are also included to enable the LVDTs to be locked in place either in a threaded bore, or in a fixed bracket.
GPA 750 differential transformers are available in ranges from ±1.25 to ±50mm, with a linearity that is better than 0.25%. The force of the spring is between 28 and 570 gram force, dependent on the stroke length.
