BTI, represented in Australia by Balluff Leuze , has released the Trithon safety switch, made in a cylindrical stainless steel housing with an IP68 protection rating. It is rated to 110°C and is designed to handle the extremes in the food and pharmaceutical industries. CIP cleaning processes often cause premature failure of reed-switch-based safety switches.
The ACOTOM decoding process provides a fully electronic switch with its own self monitoring. The system provides a coded magnetic system with high immunity to external magnetic fields, reducing false tripping of the contacts and low switching hysteresis, which provides a safer guarding technique. The electronic process also allows a higher misalignment in all axes.
When connected to an AWAX series safety relay, up to 30 TRITHON safety switches can be connected in series and maintain a category 3 rating as per AS4024. The units are laser marked to provide a lifetime of identification and allow full contact with food and dairy products. Connected via a food grade silicon cable, available in 3M (standard), 6M or 12 M, the Trithon provides a reliable and cost-effective solution to safeguarding in the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries.
