The DODGE CST Controlled Start Transmission provides total drive control for long conveyors and multi-drive synchronized conveyor systems. This 2 in 1 drive combines a planetary gear reducer with an integral hydro-viscous clutch which is suitable for direct coupling to a high inertia load. Currently there are more than 2000 DODGE CST drives in operation in Australia and around the world, delivering reliable service in underground and aboveground mining operations on

Dodge CST from Baldor
The DODGE CST is a very cost effective drive solution, engineered specifically to deliver total control of the most difficult high inertia loads such as long belt conveyors (1~10kms) and conveyors with multiple synchronized drives. The CST drive provides consistent smooth startup and shutdown, regardless of varying loads on the conveyor drives or ambient conditions. Other features include:
  • Delivers a range of benefits not available from electronic soft-start motor drive control alone.
  • Load sharing within ±2%.
  • Synchronized soft start and load sharing control of up to four CST drives.
  • Maximum motor power available throughout the controlled speed profile.
  • Clutch absorbs shock loads, protects the motor and conveyor components.
  • S-curve acceleration ramp further enhances safety, reliability and component protection. 
  • Reduces peak motor torque demand, potential belt slippage, shock and surge loads. 
  • Reduces conveyor belts peak stress by up to 15%. 
  • Reduced take-up travel resulting in improvements in load sharing action, and control of multiple pulley drives. 
  • Simple proven mechanical design delivers excellent reliability and generally enables in-house on-site maintenance. 
  • Nine capacities up to 2.5 million inch pounds torque, in-line and right-angle drive versions. 
  • Various control options and options for digital interfacing with plant control and monitoring services. 
  • Engineered to local hazardous area certification requirements.
