AUSTRALIAN Baldor will preview a new family of advanced adjustable-speed AC drives at Automate 2005 (Stand C5).
Designated H2, the drives feature a modular expansion bus and option range that is said to allow users to configure optimum solutions for every AC drive application, from simple speed control to advanced positioning and sophisticated movements with local I/O and networking communications for IT integration including Ethernet.
They offer a solution to all drive application requirements through a choice of open or closed loop control, including inverter, encoderless vector, and closed-loop vector operational modes.
A built-in expansion bus is said to extend flexibility, providing the means to configure drives with application-specific I/O, and fieldbus networking communications.
The plug-in option range also features a motion control module compatible with Baldor's Mint motion software. This option will convert drives into complete standalone solutions.
Baldor believes H2 represent the most reliable industrial drives available on the commercial market, thanks to its design strategy which includes FMEA (failure mode and effect analysis), and a high quality manufacturing process that includes in-circuit and functional testing of each subassembly, stress testing and full-load testing of final products.
Baldor is currently demonstrating its initial range which covers power ratings from 0.75 to 45kW (1 to 60HP).
