Ac & Dc Drives.

Product/Service Name

KB controls continue to dominate the fractional to 5-horsepower DC Drive Speed Control market. While DC motors and drives offer the user the ultimate in high performance, small size and low cost, small AC motors and drives are challenging that very concept. Our goal was to develop a line of AC Drives that would and could replace DC controls. Today KB offers you, our customer, AC Drives that match the performance of DC drives but fit within the same footprint or are smaller than their DC counterparts.

In developing our AC Drives we followed the K.I.S.S. concept. We wanted the products to work "right out of the box". After all, DC Drives were easy to use why should AC Drives be more difficult? The concept was simple, connect 2 or 3 wires for the AC line, 3 wires for the potentiometer and 3 wires for the motor. However, because AC Drives utilize a microprocessor they deliver a level of performance far greater than any conventional DC Drive.

Function/Applications
Many of our KB Penta-Power products contain the patented KBMM current limit circuit, other products feature current feedback loops with motor burnout protection. Our PWM controls are short circuit proof and prevent high speed runaway.

Features Functions & Benefits
• Patented Direct-Fed™ CL circuit Prevents demagnetization, reduces inrush current, increases brush life. Motor lasts longer
• Current feedback priority Prevents demagnetization, reduces inrush current, increases brush life. Motor lasts longer
• Timed current limit
• (Electronic Overload Protection) Prevents motor burnout Motor lasts longer
• Plug-in Horsepower Resistor® Automatic calibration of IR Comp and CL circuits Reduces production and inventory costs
• Current selection, quick jumps Automatic calibration of IR Comp and CL circuits Reduces production costs
• Short circuit protection Prevents control failure Eliminates lost production time. Increases product reliability
• Active PWM power bridge Prevents catastrophic high speed run away Prevents machinery damage and possible user injury

Differentiating Features
• Motors will last longer with kb controls.
• Reduce production costs with kb controls.
• Your product will have better accuracy with kb controls.
• Extend motor brush life with penta-power controls
• Motor cogging is obsolete with penta-power products.

Carbo-Link use Baldor Australia’s Powerlink-compatible controller for producing carbon fibre components (30-Oct-2008)
The Ethernet-compatible Powerlink motion control network is helping the Swiss company Carbo-Link to create carbon fibre components for challenging applications such as rigging for racing yachts. The company has used Powerlink compatible controllers and drives from Baldor Australia to build a machine that winds carbon fibres to form lightweight yet ultra-strong tubes or rods of up to 14 metres in length. The machine has been successful that the company is now building a 50 metre long version to support a much broader range of applications.
