BACKPLANE Systems has announced the latest addition to Octagon Systems' range of embedded PCs - a rugged industrial computer loaded with I/O and designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -40° to +85°C.
The PC-680 offers two processor options.
The low power, Intel Tillamook processor (mobile Pentium) is suited for operation in high temperature environments with little or no ventilation. It supports flat panel displays and can be networked through the 10/100 Base-T port.
Also available is the AMD K6 333MHz processor. The high performance USB, EIDE, video, and 100 Base-T use the PCI local bus, while lower speed I/O can be expanded through the PC/104 port.
The PC-680 has six serial ports, C&T 69000 video for CRT and flat panels, 10/100 Base-T Ethernet, FDD, HDD, parallel, dual USB and keyboard ports.
It supports 128MB of SDRAM, 144MB of flash and is Windows CE/NT, QNX and Linux compatible. The ultra-stable RTC is accurate to two minutes a year, even over the full temperature range.
The PC-680 is designed for military, transportation, automation, medical and other applications where high reliability and/or harsh environments are present.
The card is also available in custom versions for OEM solutions.
