BACKPLANE Systems Technology has released DIGITAL-LOGIC's MSM855 - the first Pentium M embedded computer board in PC/104-Plus format.
Equipped with the scalable smartModule855 CPU, the customer can determine the performance and select among the Intel processors from Celeron M 300 up to Pentium M 755 with equivalent Pentium 4 performance from 600MHz up to 4.0GHz.
The PC/104-Plus computer is based on the Intel 855GME chip set with 400MHz front side bus and provides all standard PC interfaces such as COM1/2, LPT1, a floppy, an IrDA and two PS/2 ports for mouse and keyboard.
There are up to 1024MB of DDR RAM as main memory on the module available. CPU and memory are mounted exchangeable, but mechanically protected against vibrations and shock.
The standard version further includes five USB2.0 ports, an AC97 sound interface, a 10/100 LAN port and interfaces for a CompactFlash card and an IDE hard disk.
The MSM855 supports DirectX 9 with video memory of up to 64MB. The video controller has two different video outputs, VGA-Analogue and DVI/LVDS, to control two different monitors.
The module operates at a standard temperature range of -25°C to +60°C. On request, the product is also available for an extended temperature range of -40°C to +70°C.
The MSM855 is tested for shock and vibration and is suitable for applications in the areas of navigation, telecommunications, medical, aerospace and automotive electronics.
