BACKPLANE Systems Technology has announced Digital-Logic's water resistant Microspace PC, the Microspace-PCX47, equipped with a Pentium M CPU and housed in a fanless, compact water resistant metal case (IP54, optional IP65).
The new MPCX47 is based on the i855GME chip set and uses the 1.4GHz Intel Pentium M 738 processor with 2045K L2 cache, a performance comparable with a 2.8GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor. The main memory is 512MB DDR RAM (optional 1GB).
The MPCX47 provides interfaces such as two PS/2 ports for keyboard and mouse, and interfaces for printer, COM1 and COM2.
New functions like the Vector CAN-Bus interface, fast serial interfaces (two USB V2.0 and a Firewire IEEE 1394b), protected changeable media, an optical drive and exchangeable backup battery, has ensured the bandwidth has been significantly increased.
The replacement of all storage media is possible via the front lid which simplifies significantly the maintenance, on-site repair and optional expansions.
The PC supports a 2.5" hard disk up to 80GB and a DVD/CD-RW drive. It is equipped with a PC/104-Plus extension socket and a CompactFlash type II slot.
This PC is available with GPS and GSM options and features dimensions of 300mm x 160mm x 66mm (L x W x H). The MPCX47 operates in the standard temperature range of 0°C to +50°C and extended temperature range of -40°C to +50°C.
The port replicator on the rear of the case is available in four different versions, among with MIL specification (IP65).
The computer is powered by 10V dc to 30V dc and can therefore be used in battery-powered systems. Due to its light weight of 3.2kg, compact dimensions, and high functionality, the MPCX47 is suitable for applications in vehicles, ships, trains, military, and multimedia.
