BACKPLANE Systems Technology has released Octagon Systems' XE-900 SBC. This new mid-sized Epic form factor features a rich family of I/O functions and is a high-performance, low-power, x86 workhorse for embedded applications.
The XE-900 integrates video, serial ports, Ethernet, digital I/O and USB networking into a single card.
Support for three hard drives gives this card the versatility to adapt to any application.
The XE-900 is suitable for applications in transportation, security, military, communications, point-of-sale, weighing equipment and other similar environments.
The low-power requirements and built-in power management functions make it ideal for situations where battery life or heat dissipation is a concern.
The XE-900 features a 32-bit VIA EDEN ESP low-power CPU in both a 733MHz and 1GHz version. The CPU supervisor includes watchdog timer with 1s, 10s and 60s timeout periods, software controlled.
The SO-DIMM socket supports up to 256MB SDRAM, while the 51KB socketed flash contains the BIOS.
The XE-900 supports ATA-4 hard drives and a CompactFlash interface. In addition, this embedded board supports PS/2 mouse and keyboard, dedicated digital I/O (24 lines), six serial ports, two USB ports, 10/100 Base-T Ethernet and PC/104-Plus 32-bit PCI Bus and 16-bit PC/104.
This embedded single board computer withstands temperatures of -40°C to +85°C operating range for 733MHz and -40°C to +75°C for 1GHz, with forced air flow. Conductive cooling systems are available.
The EX-900 is suitable for a range of rugged and embedded applications including transportation, automation and manufacturing.
