BACKPLANE Systems Technology has released Digital-Logic's IEEE-1394 (Firewire) controller to its portfolio of PC/104plus boards.
The new 32-bit PCI-bus board, the MSMW104+, is based on the IEEE-1394 controller chip TSB43AB22 by Texas Instruments and provides a data rate of up to 400Mb/s across a maximum distance of 4.5 metres.
The MSMW104+ is equipped with two Firewire connectors, allowing up to 63 network nodes to be connected.
The PC/104plus board has a hot-plug interface and supports Plug&Play technology. The auto recognition and device configuration - for which no adjustments to the board are required - ensure a robust operation and high reliability.
The MSMW104+ operates under common operating systems such as Windows2000/XP and Linux. It is an ideal solution to connect high speed devices like digital camcorders, audio or video recorders, CD/DVD drives, hard disks, printers, scanners and other external storage devices to an embedded system.
Further technical features include its small dimensions of only 90mm x 96mm x 15mm (L x W x H) and its high MTBF (mean time between failure) value of more than 100,000 hours.
The board requires a 5V power supply and operates within a temperature range of -25°C to 70°C. The typical current consumption is 150mA.
The MSMW104+ has been designed to operate with all common PC/104plus CPU boards.
