BACKPLANE Systems Technology has announced Axiom's SBC83680VEA, a low power, high performance petit embedded computer board.
This 5.25 inch embedded board is designed for space-limited applications requiring low power consumption. The board can operate normally up to 60°C, without the need for a cooling fan.
The SBC83680VEA is equipped with an onboard low power Intel BGA2 500MHz Pentium III/400MHz Celeron CPU, dual view VGA with 4MB V-RAM, fast Ethernet and 32-bit audio interface.
The SBC83680VEA supports up to 512MB of SDRAM in two DIMM sockets. Furthermore, the Mini PCI socket can support low profile SODIMM intended for space-critical applications.
The SBC83680VEA has adopted Axiom's new form factor designed for easy system integration. This includes several onboard D-type connectors, such as CRT, LAN, PS/2, USB and COM1, which provide system integrators with a simple way to empower their own mechanisms without the need for an I/O board or extra cables.
The SBC83680VEA's onboard graphics, Ethernet and audio functions make it highly suitable for applications such as multimedia, kiosks, gaming machines and 2D/3D graphical entertainment systems.
In addition, the fanless nature of the CPU reduces the noise of the system, allowing it to be used in medical equipment.
