BACKPLANE Systems Technology has announced Digital-Logic's new Microspace embedded board 800 (MSM800SEV). This robust PC/104 CPU board is based on the AMD Geode LX800 processor, an x86-based chip that has been designed for embedded applications and mobile consumer electronic devices.
The MSM800SEV operates at 500MHz and is said to provide performance equivalent to that of an 800MHz processor. It does not require a fan, only consumes about 1.6 watts (CPU), and provides an integrated 2D graphic chip with an analogue and a digital output.
The PC/104 CPU board features a good price/performance ratio and provides common standard PC interfaces for a PS/2 keyboard and mouse, hard disk, floppy disk and printer.
The two serial interfaces are available as V24/RS232C. In addition, this AC97 compatible board has a stereo line output as well as headphone and microphone connectors.
State-of-the-art features such as two USB V2.0 ports, graphics, a 100/10Base-T-Ethernet port and the possibility of expandable functions using PC/104-Plus (ISA and PCI) ensure a wide range of applications.
Up to two parallel display interfaces (VGA/24-bit, digital video interface/TFT) may be connected to display two identical images. The video controller is integrated in the Geode processor and supports resolutions ranging from quarter VGA with a minimum of 320 x 240 up to 1600 x 1200 pixels.
The MSM800SEV is compatible with all common operating systems, such as Windows XP, QNX, and Linux. The embedded computer requires a 5V power supply.
Designed for low power consumption (depending on the peripherals, typical consumption is 5 to 10 watts), it operates within the standard temperature range of 0°C to +60°C.
An extended temperature range of -40°C to +70°C is available.
