Backplane Systems Technology introduces a new line of ultra-compact fanless computers based on Intel Atom processors recently launched by MPL.

Designed for use in extreme environments, the new CEC Series fanless computers are suitable for industry, maritime, railways and automation applications.

Measuring only 62 × 162 × 120mm, the ultra-compact CEC Series embedded computers are rugged and robust, delivering high reliability, long term availability, low power consumption, as well as optional extended temperature range.

Features such as on-board soldered industrial grade Intel Atom processors (Z5x0PT 1.1 GHz and 1.33GHz, as well as Z5x0P 1.6GHz) utilised in combination with the Poulsbo US15WPT chipset ensure long term availability, seamless operation in extended temperature environments, and minimal power consumption.

The robust design allows the CEC Series embedded computers to run at full load in an operating temperature range from -40°C up to +85°C with assured reliability.

Key features of the CEC Series ultra-compact fanless computers include several Gigabit Ethernets, USB 2.0, serial ports (RS-232 or RS-422/485), PS/2 and DVI-D interfaces; expansion allowed via the onboard Mini PCI-Express interface to provide functionality such as WLAN, Bluetooth or UMTS; all connectors soldered on-board to eliminate internal wiring; wide input voltage range specified for 8 to 36VDC; polarity and load dump protection to suit vehicle applications; up to 2GB DDR2 SO-DIMM memory modules can be used; two on-board SATA interfaces provided to guarantee long term availability of storage media; and DIN rail holder on the back as well as an optional wall-mount kit for easy mounting.
